1. Who we are

Our website address is: https://vkrastev1blog.com

Velislav Krastev Blog is a personal blog that publishes articles on the Bible, Christian faith, social and everyday topics, science, technology and personal interests of the author.

Site Administrator: Velislav Krastev
Personal Data Contact Email: vkrastev777@gmail.com

With this policy, we explain what personal data can be collected and processed when visiting the site, leaving a comment, using the translator or making a voluntary donation.

2. Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the information entered in the comment form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser information. This data can be used to detect and prevent unwanted messages and spam.

An anonymized string created by cryptographically converting your email address (called a hash) can be provided to the Gravatar service to verify that you are using a profile picture there.

The Gravatar Privacy Policy is available at: https://automattic.com/privacy/

After your comment is approved, your profile picture may be publicly viewable along with the comment.

Comments and associated metadata may be retained indefinitely unless deleted or another legal basis for retention applies.

3. Media files

If you upload images to the site, we recommend that you do not include location data (EXIF GPS) in them unless necessary.

Visitors can download posted images and, under certain conditions, extract the metadata they contain, including location information.

4. Cookies

Cookies are small files that are stored in the browser and help the website work.

If you leave a comment, you can choose to have your name, email address and website saved in cookies. This is so you don’t have to re-enter the information the next time you comment. These cookies can be stored for up to one year.

When visiting the login page, a temporary cookie may be set that checks if the browser accepts cookies. It does not contain personal data and is deleted when the browser is closed.

When logging into an account, cookies may be used to save login data and display preferences for the administrative interface. Login cookies are usually valid for two days and screen settings cookies for one year. By selecting “Remember me”, the session can be saved for two weeks. When you log out, login cookies are removed.

When an article is edited or published, an additional cookie may be saved that contains the ID of the edited post. It contains no personal data and expires after one day.

Jetpack and other enabled site features may use additional cookies or similar technologies. Their use depends on the specific functions and settings.

For more information about data processing by Jetpack and Automattic, visit: https://jetpack.com/support/privacy/

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect the performance of some features.

5. Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may contain embedded content such as videos, images, posts or material from other websites.

Embedded content behaves similarly to visiting the corresponding external website directly.

These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, implement additional tracking technologies, and monitor your interaction with content. This may include tracking your actions if you have an account and are logged in to the relevant external site.

Data processing by these providers is subject to their own privacy policies.

6. Automatic translation by OZY Translate

The site uses the OZY Translate plugin, which allows visitors to select a language and view content in other languages.

When a translation is requested for text for which there is no translation ready yet, the built-in machine translation service can send the original text and source and target language codes from the site server to an external translation service, such as Google Translate. Under certain conditions, the MyMemory service can also be used.

According to the OZY Translate documentation, these requests are sent by the site’s server. Translation services are sent the translation text and language codes, not the visitor’s identity data as part of the translation request itself.

Once generated, the translations are stored in the site ’'s database so they can be reused. This allows visitors to view already translated content without having to resubmit the text for translation each time.

Privacy policies of the services used:

If another translation provider or AI service is activated in the future, this policy should be updated according to the actual provider used and its terms.

7. Visit statistics via Jetpack

The site uses Jetpack, including traffic statistics features when enabled.

To provide the statistics, technical data such as IP address, browser and device information, visited address, referring address, date and time of visit, browser language and country may be processed.

This data is used to count visits and to understand which articles and pages are of interest to readers.

The site owner sees aggregate traffic statistics, not necessarily information that allows identifying the specific visitor. According to the Jetpack documentation, logs containing IP addresses and usernames from WordPress.com are stored by Automattic for up to 28 days for the purposes of this service.

Additional information is available here:

8. Voluntary Donations via PayPal

The site provides an opportunity for voluntary support through a donation button that uses the PayPal service.

If you choose to make a donation, you will be redirected to PayPal or a payment interface provided by PayPal. Payment data is processed by PayPal in accordance with its terms and privacy policy.

The site does not require you to enter bank card details directly into article content or comment forms. We do not store credit card details on the site itself through the donation plugin.

Depending on the payment made and the PayPal settings, the site owner may receive information necessary to establish and account for the donation, such as name, email address, amount or transaction details.

PayPal processes personal data according to its own privacy policy:

Donations are voluntary. They are not a condition for accessing the articles and other blog content.

9. Who we share the data with

Personal data may be provided to external providers only when this is necessary for the operation and protection of the site or for the use of a service selected by the visitor. Such providers may include:

  • WordPress.com and Automattic – for hosting, operation and certain site services;
  • Gravatar – to verify a profile picture by email address hash when the feature is used;
  • Google Translate and MyMemory – for machine translation of text when needed;
  • PayPal – to process voluntary donations;
  • automated spam detection services when enabled.

Third party providers may process data according to their own policies and applicable terms. Where applicable, the processing and international transfer of data is governed by the relevant contractual and statutory mechanisms.

If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the reset email.

10. How long we keep the data

Comments and associated metadata can be stored indefinitely so that subsequent comments can be recognized and processed more easily, rather than being queued for approval each time.

If there are registered users on the site, the personal data they provide in their profiles is stored as long as the profiles are active or as long as necessary for the relevant purposes and applicable legal obligations.

Site administrators may review and edit information in user profiles within their authority.

Cookies are stored for the periods indicated in the “Cookies” section or for the periods determined by the respective services.

Data related to statistics is stored according to the policies of Jetpack and Automattic. Donation data is processed and stored by PayPal in accordance with its policies and applicable legal requirements.

When certain data are no longer needed, they can be deleted, except when the law requires or permits their longer storage.

11. What rights you have over your personal data

Where applicable, you have the right to request:

  • information about the personal data we process about you;
  • access to that data;
  • correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • deletion of personal data when the legal conditions are met;
  • restriction of processing;
  • providing the data in a portable format where this right is applicable;
  • objection to certain types of processing;
  • withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent.

If you have an account on the site or have left comments, you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, as well as deletion of data where applicable.

These rights are not absolute. In certain cases, data may be retained when this is necessary to fulfill a legal obligation, to protect security or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

To exercise your rights, you can contact us at the email address indicated at the beginning.

You also have the right to file a complaint with the competent supervisory authority for personal data protection. In Bulgaria, this is the Commission for the Protection of Personal Data:

12. Automated Processing

Comments may be checked by automated spam detection systems when such a service is enabled.

The site does not use comments or visit statistics for automated decision-making with legal implications for visitors.

13. How we protect data

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the site and the information we process. Access to administrative functions is restricted to authorized users.

No method of transmitting or storing data over the Internet can guarantee absolute security. Therefore, we cannot promise complete protection against all possible risks.

14. Changes to Privacy Policy

This policy may be updated when site functionalities change, services are added or removed, or changes in applicable legal requirements occur.

The current version will be posted on this page. We encourage visitors to review it periodically.
